The Prince of Egypt is a 1998 American animated musical drama film produced by DreamWorks Animation and released by DreamWorks Pictures. The film is an adaptation of the Book of Exodus and follows the life of Moses from being a prince of Egypt to his ultimate destiny to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. It’s kind of baffling to think that there’s a gorgeous, fully animated feature based on the Passover story, but it’s true: The Prince of Egypt is real, and it’s available to stream on Hulu. It is the first DreamWorks feature to be traditionally animated. It arrived for online streaming on December 21, 2019. Yes, The Prince of Egypt is now available on British Netflix. He only killed the male babies of the Hebrew slaves. Plot Hole in the story of Moses (specifically The Prince of Egypt) The pharaoh gave an order to kill all the slave babies because he was worried about a prophecy that said one of the babies would overthrow his reign. Why were they killing babies in the Prince of Egypt? You can be non-religious and still enjoy The Prince of Egypt. Unlike Jesus Christ Superstar, which aimed to be a “story from the Bible” with non-Christians as the focus audience, The Prince of Egypt took great pains to be a “story from Scripture” with Jewish people, Christians, and Muslims as the focus audience. It accurately depicts many elements of life in New Kingdom Egypt, but in the quest for dramatic effect, it gets a couple of things noticeably wrong. The film The Prince of Egypt is an animated portrayal of the biblical Exodus story that is complete with some great animation, good music, and quality writing. Is the Prince of Egypt biblically accurate? The film was banned in a few Muslim countries, like the Maldives, Malaysia, and Egypt for its graphic depictions of Moses, who is considered an Islamic prophet. It’s a shame that DreamWorks doesn’t make hand drawn animation anymore, and it’s a shame that they don’t take bold risks as they used to. Overall, Prince of Egypt is an amazing film with excellent animation, characters with well-rounded personalities, memorable songs, and an immersive story that really pulls you in.
